Lingshan Island Multi-band Sea Clutter Observation Dataset

Lingshan Island Sea Clutter Comprehensive Trial Base is constructed to meet the requirements of multi-type radar applications, integrating radar sea clutter measurement, marine meteorological environment measurement, target characteristic measurement, and data analysis and evaluation. It operates in a normalized manner, equipped with UHF, L, S, X, and Ku band marine surveillance radars and marine meteorological observation devices. To promote the development of radar sea target detection technology in complex marine environments, China Research Institute of Radiowave Propagation has proposed the "Shore-based Multi-Band Sea Clutter Observation Data Release and Sharing Plan." Utilizing the Lingshan Island Sea Clutter Comprehensive Trial Base, marine observation experiments are implemented to acquire sea clutter data and target data under different sea conditions, wave directions, and resolutions, while simultaneously obtaining wave parameters and meteorological parameters. After standardized and systematic data preprocessing, a multi-band sea clutter observation dataset is formed. Through the phased advancement of the data sharing plan, this initiative supports improvements in sea clutter modeling, prediction, target detection algorithms, and radar capability enhancement in China. The data release and sharing plan are implemented in multiple phases, with the first phase (current phase) focusing on the release of UHF and X band data. This paper provides the relevant data details and typical data characteristic analysis.
