Millimeter-wave Reflectarray Design based on Programmable Coding Metasurface

      • Reconfigurable reflectarray has attracted much attention because of its advantages such as simple preparation, low cost and flexible beam control. In this paper, we propose a design method of millimeter-wave reflectarray featuring independent beam-scanning based on programmable coding metasurface, and radiation pattern fast prediction is utilized together with algorithm to calculate optimal phase configuration. The reflectarray presents good radiation performance with low sidelobes and good beam angle accuracy. Then as an experimental verification, a prototype is fabricated and tested in a standard microwave anechoic chamber. Measured results show that wide-angle beam-scanning up to ± 50° can be obtained, with peak gains of 22.3 dBi, a 3 dB gain bandwidth of 20.5%, and a corresponding aperture efficiency of 18%. The proposed millimeter-wave reflectarray is expected to be applied in fields such as wireless communication and radar detection.
