Abstract
The domain decomposition methods (DDMs) have been recognized as the most efficient way for solving electromagnetic scattering by large-scale objects. Combined with the non-conformal technology, they can further reduce the difficulty of modeling and meshing targets with complicated geometry in practical applications, thereby have attracted extensive attention in the field of computational electromagnetics in recent years. In this paper, recent progress of DDMs in finite element method and the integral equation method is introduced respectively at first. Then, an overview of the DDMs development of hybrid finite element boundary integral-multilevel fast multipole algorithm (FE-BI-MLFMA) is given. Finally, a short discussion is drawn to the present challenges for domain decomposition based FE-BI-MLFMA.
