  • More memory requirements and more time-consuming in simulating the electromagnetic (EM) scattering from a one dimensional (1D) perfectly electric conductor (PEC) rough sea surface with larger unknowns through the method of moments (MoM).To solve this problem, the characteristic basis function method (CBFM) is introduced in this paper, and the Foldy-Lax multiple scattering equations are applied to generate the characteristic basis functions (CBF).From the numerical simulations, it is obviously found that the proposed algorithm costs less time than the traditional MoM, thus can control the dimension of the operation matrix.
