Abstract
Multi-angular range/speed sensor is equipped for soft-landing control and guidance of CE-3 probe. This paper presents an approach to simulate the scattering echo of radar in Sinus Iridum Area of lunar surface where CE-3 plans to land. Using the high-resolution digital terrain model (DTM) data, the high-frequency kirchhoff analysis(KA) method is used to compute the scattering echo from the rough lunar surface. Then the scattering coefficients (normalized radar cross section, NRCS) are extracted from the echo power. It is analyzed that how the beam angle, radar frequency, and polarization pattern effect the radar echo and NRCS.
