Design and research of a variable-thickness millimeter-wave radome

      • A detailed analysis of radome design under mechanical and thermal loading conditions is presented in this paper. A variable thickness design using homogeneous ceramic is proposed, incorporating considerations of material and manufacturing characteristics. The advantages of the variable thickness radome over constant thickness design are demonstrated through calculation of the power transmission coefficient and boresight error performance as functions of the antenna scan angle. An optimized thickness profile is derived, and simulation results are shown to be in good agreement with experimental measurements. Furthermore, variations in the electrical properties of the radome under high-temperature conditions are predicted. This study provides valuable engineering guidance for the design of radomes subjected to combined mechanical and thermal loads.
