Abstract
Aiming at electromagnetic scattering modeling and SAR imaging simulation of the turning ship wake on rough sea surfaces, a composite model of the turning ship wake on sea surface is constructed based on the Kelvin ship wake generation theory and linear sea surface model. With faceted two-scale model, the coherent and incoherent scattering components of a facet are calculated using Kirchhoff approximation and perturbation model, respectively, and the scattering coefficients of each resolution cell in imaging scene are thus obtained using the faceted two-scale model. The scattering coefficient and SAR system impulse response function are convolved to obtain the echo signal of the imaging scene illuminated antenna beam, while a two-dimensional focused SAR image of the scene is obtained by using \omega K imaging algorithm to focus the raw SAR echo signal. A comparison is made between simulated wake SAR images and TerraSAR-X measured SAR images, and the results show good similarity between the two images, verifying the effectiveness of electromagnetic scattering modeling and SAR imaging simulation the faceted two-scale model utilized in this paper.
