Abstract:
A novel design of broadband circularly polarized (CP) patch antenna fed by L-probes with cone-shaped radiators is presented in this paper. To improve axial ratio (AR) bandwidth, wideband 90° hybrids with two L-probe feeds are used as feeding network, and cones act as radiators instead of common plane patches. The array of four elements gets a peak gain of 12.7 dB. The feeding network is located in the lower side of the substrate to reduce the size. The measured results agree well with simulations, indicating that the antenna array has an impedance (VSWR<2) bandwidth of 40.1%, and axial ratio (AR<3 dB) bandwidth of 42.7%.
