      Auto-calibration angle estimation algorithm for VHF radar in the presence of mutual coupling

      • 摘要: 针对互耦条件下米波雷达目标低角估计问题,提出了一种波达方向估计的自校正算法。分析了米波雷达在互耦条件下目标回波存在多径时的信号形式;利用均匀线阵互耦矩阵的特点对接收数据协方差矩阵的信号参数形式进行变换;在未知互耦校正信息的情况下,基于子空间原理得到目标波达方向的角度搜索函数,还推导出表面反射系数和阵列互耦矩阵的计算表达式。与同类校正算法相比,该算法在存在多径相干信号和未知互耦矩阵的情况下,不损失阵列孔径,不需要辅助阵元和校准源,且不需要迭代运算。仿真结果验证了该算法的有效性。

         

        Abstract: Aimed at the problem of low elevation estimation for VHF radar in the presence of mutual coupling, an auto-calibration direction-of-arrival(DOA) algorithm is proposed. First, the form of VHF radar echo signal in the present of mutual coupling and multipath is analyzed. Then, based on the characteristic of the mutual coupling matrix for uniform linear array, the form of the signal parameters in the received data covariance matrix is transformed. Finally, without any previous mutual coupling calibration information, a subspace-based method is applied to estimate the target angle, and simultaneously the surface reflection coefficients and mutual coupling matrix can be achieved. Compared with many existing array calibration methods, the proposed algorithm retains antenna aperture and avoids iterative processing in the presence of coherent multipath signals and unknown mutual coupling matrix. Furthermore, it requires neither the presence of calibration sources nor previous calibration elements. Computer simulations show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
