Study on the applicability of the iterative MGB evaporation duct model

The iterative MussonGenon Gauthier and Bruth(MGB) evaporation duct model which has been widely used in Europe is chosen to forecast the maximum radar detection range in condition of evaporation duct. The basic theory of the iterative MGB evaporation duct model is introduced, and the applicability of the two kinds of iterative MGB evaporation duct models in the Chinese sea areas is obtained by using actual data. The results show that for the evaporation duct height, the evaporation duct height by using MGB1 iterative model is more exact than that using MGB2 iterative model in the test sea area, and is also better than the evaporation duct height by using analytical MGB model.evaporation duct; iterative MGB model; applicability; evaporation duct height
