      Analysis of electromagnetic scattering characteristics from dielectric objects using multilevel characteristic basis function method

      • Characteristic basis function method (CBFM) based on the conceptions of grouping and highlevel basis function is a novel approach for the fast solution of electromagnetic scattering problems. In order to analyze the electromagnetic scattering problems of electrically large or multiple objects more effectively, multilevel characteristic basis function method based on Foldy-Lax multiple scattering equations is presented in this paper. The size of the generator matrix and the computational accuracy are controlled by multilayer division of subblocks in the presented method. Multilevel characteristic basis function method is used to calculate the far scattered field of dielectric objects. The numerical results show that the presented method retains excellent accuracy and the computational efficiency is improved considerably in comparison with the traditional characteristic basis function method.
