Electromagnetic scattering by dangerous debris and irregularities in ionosphere

      • Based on ionospheric quasi-parabolic (QP) model, the distribution of electronic density is obtained, and the bistatic radar cross section of ionospheric irregularities and dangerous space debris (1cm-10cm) are dederived by incorporating the perturbation method and the scaling transformation theory. The electromagnetic scattering characteristic of dangerous space debris with the shape of ellipsoid is investigated, and the effects of ionospheric irregularities are analyzed when the ground base radar is used to probe the space debris. The results show that the energy of incident wave is scattered to the forward direction and its neighboring, which may produce serious impact on space debris detection.
