      Design of a new ultra-wideband digital sampling receiver for ground penetrating radar

      • A new ultra-wideband digital sampling technology combining the equivalent time sampling technology with the real time sampling technology is proposed for the application of the ground penetrating radar.This technology employs the 1-bit parallel time-interleaved sampling method and uniform quantization to realize the analog to digital(A/D) conversion without using integrated A/D.According to the new technology, a new ultra-wideband digital sampling receiver with equivalent 7-bit accuracy at 4.096 GHz sampling rate is implemented in a field-programmable gate array (FPGA).The receiver has compact structure and its power consumption is less than 1.5 W.The experiment results show that the receiver has a bandwidth of 500 MHz, and it has low quantizing noise and can well reconstruct the input signalsl.Furthermore, the receiver has good performance and meets the requirements to receive the echo signal of the ultra-wideband ground penetrating radar.
