      Range profile analysis of target above rough surfacebased on surface current model

      • Combined the method of moment and the physical optics method with the matrix decomposition technique, a hybrid method is applied in this paper for the solution of the composite scattering from the two-dimension perfect electric conductor column target above a rough surface. By calculating the radiation of the surface currents and simulating the radar echoes in the frequency domain, the high resolution range profiles(HRRP) of the column above a rough surface are obtained by performing the inverse discrete Fourier transform on the wideband backscattered field. Combining the surface current decomposition and the ray theory prediction techniques, the connection between the simulated range profiles and the complex scattering mechanisms are established. The cause of the HRRP is identified and the different order coupling interactions give rise to different order range profiles.
