      The quasi 3-D ray tracing model in microcellular environment

      • Based on the theory of physical optics (PO), uniform theory of diffraction (UTD) and image theory, a quasi 3-D ray tracing radio propagation prediction in microcellular systems is proposed. To overcome the shortcomings of crossing and blocking test which could cause surface loss or surface redundancy, the proposed model can calculate the angles of the point fountain (fountainhead, image point and diffraction point) to the point of each surfaces and combine the range of its sight to get the surfaces in sight of point fountain. This model can reduce the test of crossing and blocking and overcomes some shortcomings, and the accuracy and efficiency are greatly improved. The results predicted by this model have good agreement with observation data and the predicted result by comparison with the reference papers.
