Abstract
For the importance of ultra-wideband antenna design,a novel coplanar waveguide(CPW)fed printed antenna with compact size is designed and analyzed for ultra-wideband wireless applications based on the theory of microstrip antenna and electromagnetic scattering. The asymmetric radiation structure with an inverted-L strip and a U-strip is adopted in the proposed antenna which broadens the bandwidth to a great extent.Compared with some CPW-fed antennas in previous researches, the proposed antenna has a small size, relatively high gain, near linear impedance, wider bandwidth,quasi-omnidirectional radiation pattern and low cost characteristics simultaneously. As a result, the proposed antenna achieves a good trade-off among some key performance parameters of the proposed antenna. The measured results agree well with the simulated prediction. The proposed antenna is suitable for a variety of broadband wireless communication applications.
