Abstract
Using the observation data (2000-2009) at Vanimo sation, a morphological analysis for L-band ionospheric scintillations over equatorial region from the solar maximum to the minimum is performed, and the influence mechanism of the solar activity on scintillation is analyzed. The main results are as follows. The seasonal, monthly and local time characteristics of scintillation in the medium and high solar activity periods are present. But in quiet solar activity period, the scintillation activity is mainly weak, and with no obvious disciplines.Furthermore, when the sunspot number decreases, the scintillation incidence descends with the same trend, the scintillation has a good relativity with the sunspot number, especially for the middle and strong scintillation. It shows that the solar activity influences on the middle and strong scintillations are more fierce than the weak, but it needs more researches to certify.
