8mm multi-beam antenna based on homogeneous spherical lens

The basic feature of the homogeneous spherical lens is introduced.The homogeneous dielectric spherical lens with single-feed is analyzed and simulated and its performance is good.Based on the lens with single-feed, the homogeneous dielectric spherical lens with eight-feed is simulated.According to the simulation results, the homogeneous dielectric spherical lens is fabricated.The feeding network including 16circular waveguides and its controller are also designed.The 16 circular waveguides form an array of 2×8 around the lens, and the beam scanning in azimuth and elevation can be achieved by switching the feeding circular waveguide in the same layer and different layers respectively.The measurement results show that the performances of the antenna are good and well agree with the simulation.
