Optimized design and analysis of multibeam antenna with shaped reflector
To achieve the higher gain and the lower side lobe of multiple spot beams in the coverage area with less difficulty, a new design of the single-feed-per-beam multibeam antenna is presented in this paper. The reflector is shaped to resolve the inconsistency between the side lobe and beamwidth in traditional single-feed-per-beam multibeam antenna. In the optimization course of the reflector, the phases of the aperture field are set as variables, and then the real-coded genetic algorithm is used to adjust the variables to obtain multiple spot beams with good performances. The simulation results show that the beamwidth of the antenna is widen to 1°, meanwhile, the gain is above 40 dBi and the side lobe is below 20 dBi, which verifies the validity of the design.
