Statistical analysis on characteristics of Es in Qingdao region

Using the observation data of ionosonde from year 2001 to 2011 at Qingdao radio environment observatory, a statistical analysis for seansonal and daily variation of sporadic E(Es) is performed. The main results show that, the seasonal and daily variation of occurrence probability are single-peak structure, which summer and midnoon are the most frequent and strong time. The seasonal and daily variation of height are dual-peak structure, which April and September are the primary and JP3secondary peaks in season, while hour 7 and 17 are the peaks in day. The order of occurrence times of Es type from high to low is F, C, L, H.
