Abstract
The low frequency foliage penetration imaging radar works at the low end of the microwave frequency and has a wide relative bandwidth, compared with the traditional narrow-band radars. Therefore, it has strong foliage penetration and high-resolution imaging capabilities. It has been widely used in battlefield reconnaissance, counter-terrorism and stability maintenance, and resource exploration and monitoring. This paper introduces three specific applications: low-frequency foliage penetrating synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technology, low-frequency foliage penetrating interference SAR technology, and low-frequency foliage penetrating ground moving target indicator (GMTI) radar technology. It systematically reviews the rise and current research status of low-frequency foliage penetrating radar technology, analyzes their respective technical characteristics and key technologies involved, and finally discusses the future development and emerging of low-frequency foliage penetrating radar technology application.
