Recognition of water condensate by cloud radar and microwave radiometer

      • In order to reduce the risk of ice accretion in flight, fuzzy logic algorithm and neural network algorithm are used to study the classification of water condensate from the detection data of cloud radar with microwave radiometer. The results show that the two algorithms can effectively complete the classification of water condensates: fuzzy logic algorithm is very sensitive to depolarization ratio; neural network algorithm can distinguish whether there is water condensates and classify small particles, but not large non spherical particles. This study can provide early warning service for aircraft icing from the perspective of the type of condensate.
