Abstract
A time reversal in frequency domain method is applied to lightning radiation sources positioning. The basic components of lightning location systems and time reversal technique are introduced. The influencing factors of positioning accuracy are discussed and typical examples are described. Compared with the traditional lightning location methods, the time reversal method has better robustness and can directly use the back propagation of the detected waveform for automatic focus positioning without extracting the arrival time of the waveform. Furthermore, it has the potential of simultaneous positioning for multiple radiation sources.
