Design and experiments of dual-polarized retrodirective rectenna array

      • The dual-polarized retrodirective rectenna array composed of the dual polarized Van Atta antenna array and the differential rectifying circuits is proposed in this paper. The sharp decreasing of the microwave direct current conversion efficiency could be avoided when the beam direction deviation and the polarization mismatch the transmitting and receiving antennas. The dual-polarized retrodirective rectenna array can provide a stable DC output voltage within a wide incident angle and arbitrary polarization. A C-band 2×2 dual-polarized retrodirective rectenna array is designed and tested. When the power density is 3.43 mW/cm2, incident wave power density range of the normalized voltage ratios greater than 0.8 for the horizontal and vertical polarization ports are-38°, 38° and-31°, 31°, respectively. The maximum efficiencies of the two ports are all 70.8% when the power density is 4.32 mW/cm2.
