Abstract
Based on the fractal theory of Vicsek structure, a new Vicsek-like fractal antenna with good space filling property and self-similarity property is proposed, and the defected ground structure (DGS) is introduced on its ground plate to improve the frequency and suppress the harmonics, which makes it a better candidate for applications of WLAN, WiMAX and C band satellite communication systems. It provides four impedance bandwidths of 0.2 GHz, 0.49 GHz, 0.75 GHz and 0.56 GHz for the working bands of 2.37-2.57 GHz centered at 2.45 GHz, 3.2-3.69 GHz centered at 3.46 GHz, 5.52-6.27 GHz centered at 5.8 GHz and 6.68-7.24 GHz centered at 7 GHz, respectively. Furthermore, the 4.89 dB of relative high gain is achieved. The small size and omnidirectional radiation characteristics of the antenna show that it can meet the requirements of portable multiband mobile devices.
