A simulated statistical study on Raman lidar detection ability to elevated ducts

      • With respect to 34 elevated duct events obtained by high-altitude balloon with radiosonde, we studied the detection ability of Raman lidar to them by simulation, to help selecting instrument type and setting operation mode. Using Monte-Carlo method, we calculated the identification probability of each duct detected by a lidar with typical configuration, consequently gained the statistically average identification probability and number of identifiable ducts. Furthermore, we surveyed the distribution of identification probability with parameters of duct, and the detection ability with parameters of lidar. The result indicates that the detection ability of Raman lidar to elevated ducts possesses remarkable difference. Finally, we bring forth the recommended instrument type and operation mode.
