Abstract
We investigate theoretically the transmission characteristics through zero-index metamaterials embedded with elliptic dielectric cylinders.The transmitting coefficient of planar metal waveguide is calculated, and the condition of total transmission and total reflection is obtained.Its correctness is proved through numerical calculation of the refractive index and simulation by using COMSOL soft ware.Based on above consequences, the characteristics of electromagnetic field in every section of the waveguide, and the dependence of the parameters of the elliptic dielectric cylinder on the total transmission and reflection are analyzed.In addition, the resonances of the elliptical cylinder, and Whispering Gallery Mode (WGM) occurred in the elliptical cylinder are discussed.It is of important significance for designing sensor, gathering energy, and electromagnetic switch, etc.
