Abstract
In order to measure the lightning current distribution on the metal cylindrical surface, a two dimension giant magneto resistive(GMR) surface current measurement system is developed. With this measurement system, the aluminum cylindrical surface current density is measured. The measurement results are consistent with the simulation results of the CST software. It shows that the 2D GMR surface current measurement system can be used to study the lightning current distribution on the metal cylindrical surface.
