Compact and broadband circularly polarized ring antenna with edge coupling arc feeds

      • A circularly polarized annular ring ceramic antenna is proposed. It has broadband circularly polarization bandwidth, which can be used in multiple global navigation satellite systems (GNSS). The radiation structure and feeding network of the antenna is separated, which leads to immunity to the surrounding environment. The measured results show that the antenna has 28% of impedance bandwidth and 32% of axial ratio bandwidth. The largest gain of the antenna is 3.9 dBic. The size reduction of the antenna is 89.6% compared to the traditional half-wave patch antennas. The half power beam-width (HPBW) is large enough to receive the signal transmitted by satellite orbiting at large angle, which is promising for the in-constructing satellite systems with only a few satellites.
