Design of low profile and ultra-wideband phased array antenna based on tightly-coupling and end-fire

      • Ultra-wideband, low profile, wide-angle scanning, high gain and high power resistance are the main performance requirements of multifunctional phased array antennas, which are usually difficult to be balanced. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a design method of a multi-functional phased array antenna based on the traditional metal Vivaldi antenna based on the tight coupling and end-fire mechanism. The 704 elements antenna array is designed, the simulation results show that the designed antenna array can realize pitch ±60° and azimuth ±45° non grating lobe scanning, the active voltage standing wave ratio (AVSWR) of wide angle scanning is less than 6.1 in 9-octave frequency and 3 in 3-octave frequency of high frequency band, and the cell gain in 3 GHz bandwidth of high frequency band is better than 5 dB. The antenna array is processed and tested, and the test results are in good agreement with the simulation data. In addition, the proposed antenna array has the characteristics of ultra-wideband, low profile, wide-angle scanning, high gain, high reliability, high power tolerance and easy implementation, which has important application value in phased array antennas.
