Abstract
In order to solve the difficulty in designing the feed network of tightly coupled dipole array antenna (TCDA) in VHF and UHF bands, which is not conducive to engineering, we propose a design scheme of TCDA antenna with low profile and dual polar characteristics fed by a new broadband coaxial Balun. The antenna adopts a double dipole element structure. The feed network is composed of a second-order Wilkinson power divider and a new coaxial broadband Balun. The grounding short-circuit branch suppresses the common mode resonance on the E-plane, and the frequency selective surface FSS layer suppresses the scanning mismatch on the H-plane. Through ADS-HFSS joint electromagnetic simulation, the simulation results show that the TCDA has a typical value of VSWR<2, ±45° scanning angle VSWR<2.5 within 110−500 MHz, and the profile height is 265 mm, which is less than 0.1 \lambda _\rmlow . The antenna has the characteristics of low profile and easy metallization, which provides a reliable method for the engineering practice of ultrashort wave band TCDA.
