Abstract
A broadband antenna for satellite navigation terminal is proposed. The antenna is composed of a pair of cross dipole arms, the side loaded metal strips and a bottom ground. The side loaded metal strips can help to improve the axial ratio (AR) bandwidth and impedance bandwidth of the antenna, and reduce the size of the overall antenna. The measured results show that the impedance bandwidth of |S11|≤ −10 dB is 1.06−2.01 GHz, AR bandwidth of AR ≤ 3 dB is 1.11−1.95 GHz, and the gains at the center frequency of BeiDou B1, B2 and B3 are 4.62, 5.34 and 5.21 dBi, respectively. The cross dipole antenna proposed in this paper does not need complex feed network, and has the advantages of simple antenna structure, miniaturization and wide band. It can be better applied in BeiDou satellite navigation terminal.
