Abstract
In order to use ray tracing (RT) method more efficiently to study millimeter wave propagation characteristics in an outdoor power distribution and utilization scenario, a RT optimization method combining the RT and the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is proposed. The method first performs low-resolution RT, and then selects the ray emission angle which is likely to reach the receiving end with the distance parameters, and divides the angle into multiple searching areas. Then, the method uses the PSO algorithm to find the optimal path in each searching area. The path loss and field strength coverage prediction results have good agreement with the traditional ray tracing and measured results. Compared with traditional RT, this method can effectively improve the computational efficiency, and it can also avoid the receiving ball problem in traditional RT method, which is valuable in engineering applications.
