Millimeter wave channel measurement and analysis in 65.5 GHz

      • Millimeter wave technology and massive multiple-input multiple-output antenna technology are the key technologies of the 5G mobile communication system. In order to study the broadband channel characteristics of the millimeter wave frequency band above 60 GHz, channel measurement activities in 65.5 GHz were carried out in a conference room. Based on the directional path loss model, this paper studies the path loss exponent and shadow fading characteristics firstly, and then based on the space-alternating generalized expectation-maximization (SAGE) parameterized analysis algorithm, the horizontal angle of arrival, delay and amplitude information are extracted, and finally based on the multipath component distance method, root mean square delay spread and root mean square angle spread characteristics are analyzed. The results show the directional path loss is similar to the free space path loss model in the methods of fixed intercept and floating intercept in the line-of-sight. The sparseness of the clusters in the environment is shown in 65.5 GHz. The time delay Expansion and angle expansion are similar to the results of the 3rd Generation Partership Project (3GPP). The channel parameters which are provided in this article have important reference significance for the channel modeling and simulation of 5G millimeter waves above 60 GHz.
