Typical event observation of the tri-band beacon onboard the CSES (ZH-1) satellite

Tri-band beacon (TBB) transmitter has been carried on the China Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite (CSES), based on the ground-based receiving system, it can be used to provide a quick ionospheric tomography. The main purpose of this work is to check the application effect of the TBB payloads. The study shows that during 2018−2019, the semiannual variations of ionospheric F₂-layer can be observed clearly in N_mF₂ data, and we also detected the ionosphere perturbations induced by the geomagnetic storm occurred on August 26, 2018, which has been proved to be a positive storm event using electron density data. All these results indicate that TBB observation can provide accurate observation data of the ionosphere and be used effectively to monitor the ionospheric changes during the space weather events.
