Abstract:
The beam pointing characteristics of retrodirective array are discussed based on the time reversal theory and phase conjugation, and the beam pointing error of the linear array, planar array, and conformal array under different angles of the incident signal are studied respectively. The results show that for linear, planar and conformal arrays, the beam pointing error on angle and amplitude aspects increase with the increase of the incident angle. A spherical conformal array is also designed on the basis of the theoretical analysis and its beam performance is simulated and verified, and it is obtained that the beam pointing error can be less than 5° when the incident pitch angle of 16-element spherical conformal array is less than 45°. Through the above study, the retrodirective array beam pointing error theory is further improved to enhance the performance of retrodirective arrays, and thus it provides a basis for retrodirective array design.
